Thursday Battle Strategy Update

Okay troops, we are facing another hurdle on Friday. Tomorrow will be the 9th day of invasion and during the strategy meeting this afternoon, Kevin, his surgeon and wingman, KB determined that a sneak attack is necessary. So, Kevin will undergo another surgery tomorrow to repair liver ducts. Kevin's surgeon said that he has never met a patient that has had such a positive attitude going into surgery and that this characteristic is genetic because KB exudes the same positive attitude. Spirits are high, morale is high and the troops are just diggin' in! This is just another hurdle and we'll take it one day at a time.

It will take Kevin at least 5 days to heal, so he has personally requested NO VISITORS. He wants to hurry up and get well so that he can see you all when he gets home and it just takes too much out of him to visit with anyone except Becky and KB.

In other news, the pathology report came back and there was a rare cancerous tumor that was removed. The medical team at MUSC is researching this tumor and has instructed team Operation Burning Daylight to follow up with an oncologist in upcoming weeks to determine the next battle.

We are updating the blog as we get information. Keep up the positive prayers and the funny comments on the blog. They are really keeping Becky and Kevin going. They have figured out how to access the blog from the hospital room (Go Becky!!!)

Love to all and GO OPERATION BURNING DAYLIGHT!!! WE KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!

Just to let you know that 4S is praying for you all daily. You know the power of children's prayers.

There is a standing order for that chocolate cake at Boulevard. Tell KB to let me know when you feel like eating some.

Hey Blanchards,
The Stiebys are sending our love and prayers to you. Your strength and determination to face this head on is such an inspiration to all of us!! Keep on fighting!

Miss Becky, Kelsey says hi and she wants you to know she lost a tooth this week.

Team Stieby looks forward to the football matchup this weekend (even if the weather doesn't look great). I hope KB takes it easy on us. I will try to get big Doug to record the game - he got a new camera for Christmas, but doesn't know how to use it yet.

Just remember, Team Stieby is cheering for Team Blanchard!
Love,
Rosie, Doug, Doug, Kurt and Kelsey

Positive prayer: Graciously hear us, O Holy Spirit, and pour Your light into the heart, soul and mind of Kevin Blanchard. Surround him with Your healing hands into the depths of his soul that every cause of illness is removed; cleansing, purifying and restoring him to the soundness of health and strength and peace.
Funny comment: Chimney Rock!!! Go ahead & laugh. I want that video too (when I get Over the Rainbow)!!!
Love ya, S

You go Daddy Kevin. With your 2 biggest and best supporters by your side and your faith and friends and family, you can jump any hurdle in the way.

Don't want you to split any stitches, but I did have a recurring dream about you fixing a toilet that was spouting like Mt.Vesuvius. Take it easy Kevin, and quit working so hard in my dreams.

Bret, Bruce,Tootie and the Boxers are thinking about you. Molly wants you to get home so she can come sit in your lap and sleep with KB.

KB, give Skiddles a kiss for us.

We Love You, Julie, Bret, Bruce, and the Boxers.

Dear Blanchards,

The signs keep pouring in that all will be fine! First there was the Religion homework about miracles on the date of your first surgery and, low and behold, you jumped right over that hurdle! Then there was the whole rainbow thing...

Well, last night's Religion homework was to analyze the Parable of the Persistent Friend. It's about three friends and it's meant to teach us to persist in our prayer even when it feels like God isn't answering quickly enough.

As far as I can see, you have WAY more than three friends on prayer duty! You keep fighting and jumping over those hurdles and we'll all persist with our prayers. God will answer according to His will and His plan but we're wearing him down!

You've gotta love this Religion homework...even Matt's not fighting it anymore!

We KNOW it will all be okay. Hang in there!

Love,

Anne, George, Matt & Marc

Thanks for the "huddle up" on the latest info. Rest, rest and more rest - that liver has to have time to rumble and bumble before it can go,go, and keep going like the energizer bunny. The Story 4 are ready for the next hurdle(s)..KB - we need to get you over to 1035 to put the boys through a Wii workout - confer with Mandy, your social sec'y and get back to us!

Over and out until the next "huddle up"..

Good morning! Prayers for you KB, Becky and Kevin are still being offered from the cold, snowy Upstate. You are all such troupers and so wise to take one hurdle at a time; otherwise your feet get all tangled up. Please know that we think of you all day long and pray without ceasing.

Just wanted to let you know that we still have you in our prayers! The kids are now asking daily on how you are. I am glad to report to them that you are determined to get well soon and will be out and about in no time! Take care.

Hello Blanchards! Our prayer box is still full of prayers for you as you approach and get ready to leap over each hurdle! I like the talk about the 25 most exciting seconds...when that liver is ready for action and ya'll are ready for some CLEMSON football exciting seconds, we have some tickets to give you for a game this Fall! So, Kevin, let all these prayers carry you over the rest of the hurdles, and maybe Bowden will let you run down the hill with the Tigers! We continue to think of you all and pray for you all every day.
